For the research part, I will look at the history of packaging design and the concept of it. Nowadays, packaging varies in forms and design, it can affects how consumers select the products they intend to buy. Interesting designs can distinguish themselves from similar products, such as shapes of water bottles, materials for shoppers bag, food packaging. McDonalds makes use of their packaging alongside with their branding identity. I want to investigate more into the issues of packaging and what makes good packaging. There is a lot of research needs to be done in the next two days and focus on a certain product.

Hi Carissa,
ReplyDeletethis is a big topic - I suggest you narrow it down to a certain sector of packaging design that you are interested in - a certain type of food or perfume or other products. That way you can be more focused and produce something that could be of real use to both yourself and others.
Hi Carissa,
ReplyDeleteHow about looking at water bottles? This is something you mentioned yesterday when we were talking...
There are so many different aspects to consider: the history of packaging water (from wells, to buckets, to glass bottles, to plastic bottles), stylistic features, environmental concerns...
Perhaps you could do a nice piece of visual research, collecting as many different styles/brands of water bottle as possible and analysing what the key/most common features are?
