So I am thinking COLOURS. Since the subject is so big I know I have to narrow things down. I'm excited to go to the library tomorrow to see what books they have to det some further ideas. When I did the sex thinking men a lot of useful questions came up. 4000 words aren't that much and I am thinking that some history, tradition and emotions would be nice to have in an introduction. One could then choose a philosophical way (like tied in with emotions, how we see colours, do we see colours the same, their meaning etc) or you could look at colours maybe in the history of magazines, or colours within design for children.... There are many ways to take, I have to quickly read some more and have a big think about it. One thing for sure is that I want some quite personal bits in my research (surveys and interviews) wether they go into the report all of them or maybe a little book to go along the report itself I shall see. About the target audience and report style I think this subject could benefit from being presented as an illustrated article with a language to suit quite a wide audience, it could be made as a booklet in its own but writing stylewise I would like it to also fit into a magazine. This is where I'm at now, so much thinking to do but it will be interesting and fun.
