I have amended the title of my report to 'Happiness in Graphic Design'. I thought 'Job satisfaction' didn't quite translate what the report is about (and it sounded a bit too technical).
The tone of voice of my report is to be like a designer talking to another designer, with a story-telling tone to it.
Here are three initial sketches of how I intend design my proposal. Please let me know what you think.
1. Cereal box: 'Do you wake up looking forward to go to work?'. What graphic designers enjoy about their work? The proposal would be at the back and on the sides of the box. Or inside if needed.
2. Mac idea: Design a SIMPLE flash interactive movie, where the user can click through a couple of Apple-themed pages to read the report. The idea is to make the proposal familiar to my target audience, designers.
3. Tube adverts: A couple of pictures of tube adverts replaced with the content of my report. The idea is a a proposal that is self-referential, but that also gives the feeling of 'reflection' to the reader. Like the 'school of life' or 'wardrobe' tube posters.
Hey, i like the idea of the cereal box one, and I think it would be the easiest for you to do in the limited amount of time we have.

ReplyDeleteany of the 3 ideas sound good - I'd go for the one that is quickest to prototype and easiest for someone to read and completely understand the proposal. Don't get too 'tricksy'...
Thanks Rachel and Darren, I'll go with the cereal box idea. I just thought about it again, it doesn't need to be a cereal box, it could be a box of anything - as long as it conveys the idea of 'happiness' being a product, or happiness being part of the design process.
ReplyDeleteI'll consider the option of not making the box, but delivering the proposal as a PDF for approval (with crop marks etc, so it feels like the proposal is part of a design process).
